Repentance is the first step in knowing the errors of our way, because of the choices we have made in living a life for ourselves a life lived apart from God and because of those choices like Drinking, Drugging, Fornicating getting pregnant and having an Abortion for it because it was inconvenient, the list can go on and on. Here is some we do not think about, Pride, Thinking we are good when we are not, by the way you can name or call them whatever you like, God calls them SIN and there is a consequence for that sin, which produce that remorse.
You see, God gave us a conscience, we know what Right and Wrong is and it seems we always do what is Wrong regardless of the consequences, until our sin begins to affect our jobs, our relationships, our marriages and families and most important our health because it is going to kill us.
Repentance is not only a change of direction or one’s mind, it is a change from Sin and Self to someone and it better be Jesus. Unlike the man who had is house cleaned and with a demon leaving his body and going out and finding nowhere to go and returning to the house he left only to bring several friends with him.
Matthew 12:43-45 (KJV) 43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
Men, Women, and children know, because of our conscience, that sin leads to DEATH.
Romans 6:23 (KJV) 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
This brings me to other verses, because it brings us to a particularly important fork in the road.
Luke 13:2-5 (KJV) 2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
When one comes to that fork in the road- the Devil or Satan is standing there to give you a way out, through the worlds solutions, which by the way is his world for he is the god of this world, through programs like Alcoholics Anonymous 12 Steps and Reformers Unanimous 10 Principles
This is the scary part of that fork, you cannot see Satan standing there, because if you did who in their right mind would make a deal with him to save their life for this world.
Because Jesus says
Matthew 6:25 (KJV) 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Matthew 16:24-26 (KJV) 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
So, if you make a deal with Satan or one of his followers, then you will only become a dry drunk, you are still a drunk and you know what God said about Drunkard’s, they will not inherit the kingdom of God and you can say that with any type of Sin that has you in bondage in the world. So, choose LIFE.
Repentance says to God “I need YOU”
Because the wages of sin is death! And it is the only reason one will unknowingly make a pack or contract with Satan. It is easier to work their way to heaven only to find in the end they have chosen the wrong path.
Romans 5:12 (KJV) 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

What most Christians do not understand is that God can also Repent, change direction. There are numerous occasions that, men of God have come to God and changed his mind.
Example:
1. Exodus 32 Moses when he was on mount Sinai, when God was going wipe out the nation of Israel and start over making a golden calf and worshipping it
2. Isaiah 38:1-5 King Hezekiah, when God told him to put his house in order, because he was going to die.
Yes, there are some conditions for God to repent, let me share it with you because it will change your prayer life forever. Understand He is GOD, and you are NOT. So, if you want God to repent and hear you, here is what you do.
2 Chronicles 7:12-14 (KJV) 12 And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. 13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Do you see the word “IF” and that is a big If, in verse 13 God has done to the land, because of our Sin and turns it around to us His people? Today that is you Christian, in verse 14. That word If appears again and we who are called- will humble themselves and pray and seek him and turn from our wicked ways; Then he will hear and forgive and heal their land.
Can you see it, the formula in getting God to change direction “Repent” and HEAR YOU, we have got to first change direction? Believe me this is only for God’s people.
The only prayer that God will hear from lost people is too agree with God “Jesus” is that He is GOD and you are Not and He will hear. You must be born again.
Revelation 3:20 (KJV) 20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Amen- So be it.
